Ep3.png

Bob and Jake start a series on the Theology of the Body (TOB) and discuss how the TOB offers an essential background and foundation for healing. The TOB teaches us that we have a nature and if we do not get what we need according to our nature we are wounded.

Show Notes

Guiding Scripture

“Purity is the glory of the human body before God. It is the glory of God in the human body through with masculinity and femininity are manifested ” (TOB 57:3)

Key Points

  • Our bodies are meant to glorify God and purity is glorifying God in a through our bodies

  • Purity means fully alive and living as God intended

  • Every person is a master of their own mystery

  • People get triggered in life all the time. That means that people have some emotional distress arise in them that gathers it’s intensity from some prior experience or memory

  • The Theology of the Body teaching can be very triggering to people

  • The ToB is a truth that reveals how we were intended by God to be and live - this is why it’s an essential backdrop for healing

  • Jesus Christ can actually do something in my life that changes it for the better

  • “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good tidings to the afflicted; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1)

  • Several important healing principles were in Bob’s story: spiritual poverty, Jesus encountering his people, blocks to wounds, actually connecting to the pain, and thanksgiving

  • “When we see Jesus as he is, we must turn away or else shamelessly adore him.” (Dallas Willard)

  • The Theology of the Body is the backdrop for healing

  • Part of healing is formation
